Waterfront Team Hosts First Annual Waterfront Expo

CASTINE, Maine - Maine Maritime Academy's (MMA) student Yacht Club, together with professional staff from the college's Waterfront Department,� hosted a spring waterfront exposition on Sunday, April 18, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day� focused on the wide variety of activities offered at the MMA waterfront, from recreational sailing to traditional sail techniques. The waterfront exposition also served to continue the college's Annual Bowdoin Day, a long-standing tradition of marking the beginning of the historic vessel's sailing season with a number of spring cleaning and readiness activities.

The day's activities included a barbecue lunch, harbor tours, Colgate sailing, and rigging and marlinspike demonstrations. The day concluded with the removal of the schooner Bowdoin's winter cover. All activities were offered free of charge.

The greater-Castine community is invited to attend this fun, family-oriented event. Participants are asked to sign up in advance by contacting the MMA Waterfront Office, 207-326-2364.
